Nomination Period for 2022 Municipal Election Now Open!

The Town of Cobourg Legislative Services Division would like to inform all residents that the nomination period for the upcoming 2022 Municipal Election has officially commenced as of 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022.


The upcoming Municipal Election to elect a Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Councillors and School Board Trustees will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022. Interested candidates may now file their nomination papers at the Municipal Clerk’s Office, 55 King Street West, Cobourg, ON from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, until Nomination Day, August 19, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.


A potential candidate must file nomination papers prior to receiving any campaign contributions and/or expending any funds on a campaign.


Candidate Information Packages Candidate Information packages are available for pick-up at the Municipal Clerk's Office. The package includes all information to proceed with a nomination for the 2022 Municipal Election. Interested individuals are encouraged to schedule a time to meet with the Municipal Clerk to view the information and learn about the process!

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for collecting the information of residents in Ontario to create a Preliminary List of Electors for municipal and school board elections.
