Final Day to Submit Nomination Papers for 2022 Municipal and School Board Election is Friday, August 19th

The Town of Cobourg Legislative Services Division would like to inform all residents that the final day to submit nomination papers for the 2022, Municipal and School Board election is Friday, August 19, 2022.
The upcoming Municipal Election to elect a Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Councillors and School Board Trustees will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022. Interested candidates may file their nomination papers at the Election Returning Officer’s Office, 55 King Street West, Cobourg, ON from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday this week, and on Nomination Day, August 19, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.


A potential candidate must file nomination papers prior to receiving any campaign contributions and/or expending any funds on a campaign.


Are you on the Voter's List?

The Town of Cobourg wants to make sure that every eligible elector can cast their ballot on October 24, 2022. The first step every individual can take to ensure they are ready to vote is to confirm they are on the voters list. You may do so by visiting the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation’s (MPAC) Preliminary List of Electors for municipal and school board elections, voterlookup.ca. If you need to be added to the list, or if your contact information needs to be updated, you may do so by visiting the Election Returning Officer’s Office, at Victoria Hall until the close of polls, 8:00 p.m., on October 24, 2022.


Key Dates and Information

Voter Instruction Letter:

Your Voter Instruction Letter will arrive to you in the mail. This letter contains important information on the election process, including:

  • Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
  • The web address or phone number to access the voting portal
  • Other important information related to the election

Individual PINs will be mailed to eligible electors so that they are received approximately seven (7) to fourteen (14) days prior to the first voting day. If you do not receive your Voter
